This quick reply might be going off on a tangent but, It'll be documented for posterity
If you're getting your water temp readings on the inlet side of the engine and the temps are high or overheating you are fucked or about to be touched inappropriately!

The reading go like this, engine makes water hot, sends it to the radiator to cool down, the radiator sends it back to the engine. The engine says thank you. If you radiator fans stop working and the water temps going into the engine are 220+ you are over heated but that's not what the engines temperature is or the water in the radiator. The water in the engine, that is being picked up by a temp gauge mounted on the outlet side is higher and so is the water in the radiator. It's the way an early warning system is supposed to work. Nothing on the market is truly real time, taking into account your reaction time and action time. It's better to have a system in effect, that gives you some options.

Temp sensor on the outlet side for the early warning win!
