Oh yeah...and if a Nissan ECU senses knock under ~4000rpm (I forget the exact RPM #), it will retard timing.
Above that, and the KS is ignored.
Our ECU's are not like a DSM ECU, with active knock control.
For the KA24DE in a 240SX, the ECU assumes a base of 20, and makes changes based on that. That's why it's so important to PROPERLY set the base timing, with the TPS unplugged. It's also why you can "trick" the ECU by setting the base low, and having the whole curve backed off by 2*, or whatever.
