Depending on your importer, and difference in pricing, it's either totally worth it, or not at all.
My buddy goes to Chiba a few times a year, drives cars, and cuts up the ones he likes. Just so happens the S13 SRs he brings over tend to be more reliable in the long run than the S14 ones. So I got an S13 blacktop, put a few bucks into new water pump, seals, and what not; and it's been perfect for 2 years and counting.
Cool story, huh?
Anyway, the biggest noticeable difference you're going to get with a S14 SR is the turbo, and the S14 turbo is just a stepping stone to the S15/2871R anyway, so ya might as well skip over it entirely.
