Ok first off, you cant use pump gas #s for the 2871 and then say 30psi and 500hp for the 30r. 30r is not efficient over 25psi. Obviously those #s were 'made up' using race gas. A 30r will only makea few more hp over the 2871 with both running pump fuel. Remember the compressors are identical...
Op, if you dont plan on cranking the wick and running 30psi+ then dont waste time with PTE or BW. They both are built for big boost. Garrett's gtx series as well shines with big boost.
I also cant believe someone mentioned lag. Compared to what a t28? My 5858 is more street friendly than my 2871 was. If you want torque get a v8.
