Real RHD imported is always going to be better than a swap...

But if you do a RHD conversion there is less legal bullshit involved. At least here in California anyway.

and it does cost a bit less than importing

A few companies in Japan take Japanese cars and convert them to be look like american cars, due to the taxes involved when importing american cars to Japan. (source: episode of translogic, speed tv on demand haha)

I personally see RHD conversions on LHD cars are basically the same concept. Getting that unique and foreign feel while not having to deal with all the red tape and DMV registration issues your going to encounter.

street car = convert it, cops can't really stop you (its not really illegal)
track car = import that shit! cops can't stop you (your on a track..)

unless you like not giving a fuck, and you like getting pulled over, and trips to the DMV, convert it. If you have some friend with experience then go for it just make sure to plan ahead on placement for everything, as the conversion will come out cleaner than it does for the person who 'wings it'
