Anytime you do something that puts severe stress on a part, you risk breaking it. It should be able to handle it...but there are no guarantees, especially if it's high-mileage like chickenmanq said. You might be worried about your tranny doing burnouts when you snap your driveshaft while launching to race someone. The best thing to do (unless you have a low deductible or something) is to put a way about $1K and don't spend it on upgrades...use it to fix stuff when sh!t happens.
