I picked up a copy of Video Option last month in Japan and it came with a great DVD where some kid hacked up an El Grande projector and fit it in his S14a housings. It looked like it took him 2 days, and this was for the magazine! He had to hot knife though plastic housings and do all sorts of nasty stuff, but in the end it looked kinda ok. You could still tell someone super glued all that together and I'm not quite sure how he got the aiming right. My Japanese is not that excellent.
Good luck with your projector conversion! Seriously, I'm not being an ass. I'm kinda curious if you do found out a good way to convert those bricks

Thanks man, no offense taken. Unlike most, I don't read forum posts with perceived sarcasm. I've played around with retrofits before on my IS300 and my R6, I just wanted to see if its already been done to gather ideas before diving into it and destroying a couple sets of headlights before getting it right. I have 3 extra sets of triples I might start hacking up to see how the dismantling goes before attempting it on a set of bricks.
here is a shot of my IS300 conversion, as you can see, I don't mess around.
and by the way, if you want to scan a copy of that option mag, I can translate it for you.
