If you aren't sure- here is an easy way to tell: Get on mapmyrun.com and map out a 1-mile drive... Go to the starting point, reset the trip-meter to zero. Drive the route. If at the end of the mile, the trip timer reads 1.6(ish), your speedo is km/h.
If you are sure that it's mph and malfunctioning, and operating smoolthly except for the wrong speed... you may want to ensure the correct speed sensor is installed.
HOWEVER, in 5th gear @2,500-ish rpm sounds an awful lot like 65-70mph... If so, then the speedo is prolly km/h in which case you need to know this (not exact figures, but close enough to keep you from getting stopped for speeding):
20km/h = 15mph
40km/h = 25mph
60km/h = 35mph
70km/h = 40mph
80km/h = 50mph
90km/h = 55mph
100kn/h = 60mph
110km/h = 65mph
120km/h = 70mph
130km/h = 80mph
Easiest way to do it is drop the 0 from the km/h, multiply by 6 and that's your 'approximate' mph.

Yeah at first I thought it could've been in km but its in mph with the km underneath, maybe its reading the mph as km and I should just read the mph as km? And it works as it should but reads way faster than I'm going
