But I know there are cng civics produced from the factory and conversion kits if you're really interested.

This is not completely true CNG is actually very clean. The whole LA transit system runs on it, all the buses . I should add we have strict emission standards so its big deal to run very clean burning fuel. Only reason prices are close to gasoline prices is because there is not enough production of it. We have the supplies we increase production and the price drops its called supply side economics.
Hydrogen has serious containment issues large or small because it is a small atom which can pass through a lot of materials so leakage is a problem.
We have Natural Gas in abundance here in the U.S. production and use of it in automobiles would be very prudent. It would severely cut down our dependance of Foreign oil cut down emissions and help our economy.
Cutting down on dependance on oil from the Middle east would also help ease tensions for us on the geopolitical stage as we would not be so concerned or involved with stuff over there as well.
