The fuse could have blown, soon as you put it in. Did you put it back in the room lamp spot?

here's what you do if you did, put in another fuse, check the voltage on both sides of the fuse, then at the light socket. If there's power there with the lights switched on, the lights should work. If the fuse blows you have a short. check the voltage at the socket with the lights off. finding the short, if there's one should be fairly easy.

Are your running lights working? or is it just the tag lamps not working? Do the brake lights work?
