Perhaps not given the immense popularity the brand had garnered here. Yet bringing up this fact in this thread is kind of irrelevant as that happened in the early to mid 80's before the S13/s14/s15 and R32/R33?R34 Skyline.

Creating Infinity was a way to sell upper line Nissan's for a price that they sold for in Japan but the American consumer would have balked at under the Nissan name badge. Same reason Toyota did Lexus and Honda did Acura. Not lame at all but brilliant from a marketing standpoint.
As far as saying they are not a company that sports car people want anymore is again a broad generalization based on your perceived notions as a 240sx owner.

Fact is there are a lot of GTR owners out there that love their GTR's as well as 350/370Z owners. To just write the company off is short sighted. They have stumbled but they stumbled in the late 70's into the early 80's and then again in the late 90's. Its kinda of par for the course with them lol. When they brought the 350Z out the consumers were happy. When they brought the GTR out the consumers were happy.
It's just about time decade wise for them to knock peoples socks off . Whether or not they do that remains to be seen but the next couple of years should be interesting.
We will just have to wait and see.

I could not agree more. Just when we all think nissan has lost it(in the cheap sports car category)....they are going to slap us in the face with something great.....at least I hope haha. No matter what though, you can't please everyone. See what got me about that article above was they said

"Britain's Whatcar reports that the BRZ fighter concept will be closer to a production car than the crazy one and derived from their history, but they stressed that it will not be a Z car."

I bolded the important part. BRZ fighter....goes hand in hand with a s-chasis lineup vehicle. Which is why I don't see a fwd or awd car being made. Not saying they are going to necessarily bring back the s-chasis as we know it. But they supposedly did scrap the project in 2008. What a great way to cover up any interest/high hopes/project plans etc. How close was it to production before the industry collapsed? That was 5 years ago. Other companies have since stepped up as the example to beat here is the BRZ/FRS. I'm just saying, it makes perfect sense to me. Maybe they polished it off. Or maybe I should wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which fills first.

I'm not sure why I even care lol. I don't know if I want a 4 cyl motor. Hell I took the one out of my 240. I think I just want to see a new 240 type of car from nissan.
