do it yourself. its not that hard. just takes some time patience and trouble shooting. you can rent a engine lift thingif you need or buy one..its pretty cheap.
you'll save a good 1K or more

age of the motro has nothing to do w/ the installation cost. both swap into eachothers chassis the exact same way. just wiring is different.
newer or older either will need some new basic maintenace, fluids, plugs wiring and other misc stuff adds up FAST
if you go s14, set aside a good 5k for whatever (motor included)
for s13, need about 3-4k depending on what you buy (clip or motorset)
this is my opinion though. do it right ONE TIME.
