my dei heat shield was flexible, just was TOO flexible... too many creases when trying to smooth around a corner. But the price you are talking about it absurd . I spent maybe 130$ on 2 - 24x24 sections and I covered my entire firewall and frame rails approx 8 inches from the firewall. And I still have a small square left over.
Edit: From what I see, the lava mat is about 10-15 $ cheaper than dei gold. So there's not this huge difference in terms of money between the 2.
