KA Overheating and ROugh idle

Ok... so i've been searching around the forum to solve the problem of the rough idle. I haven't had time to clean the AIV or anything of that sort. I came across a thread that said something about tapping the EGR or banging it since it might be closed sometimes. So i did that banging and tapping the damn thing. I take it for a test drive and now the car overheats. I just changed the thermostat like 3-4 weeks ago, new water pump about a year ago, new radiator, new hoses (upper and lower), and new belts. So wat the hell is wrong. Last time i checked, the egr has nothing to do with the overheating. Im stumped cuz i thought banging on it might helped but now its starting to show that it maybe indeed have hurted the car instead. Any info and tips would be helpful. O BTW, its ka24de, 91 s13 hatch. Thanks alot.
