I am not an expert, but when I did mine I just treated it the same as the body, yes. Keep in mind it will be exposed to more dirt, oil, fluids and things that will try to eat it up so part of having a nice engine bay is keeping it wiped clean all the time. I used really expensive paint though so your mileage may vary
