If you want good results, DO NOT use rattle can. Either source out a compressor and airbrush or have it professionally done. Don't forget to let it sit a few days, then put a good coat of wax on it before putting everything back together.
Get with Andy- For the right price, he may help you with the prep.

HOLY SHIT! that looks great. did you paint the engine bay before or after you sprayed the rest of the car??
