For real though, buy a low mileage grandma car, do basic maintenance like alternator, fuel pump, power steering pump, plugs, etc. If you want it to look cool buy coils and wheels, don't even think about modifying the powerplant until you have another daily driver. Trust me, I did the daily/drifter thing for three years and it involved a lot of calling for rides, changing tires in the college parking lot, spending hours on simple jobs like fuel pumps or coilovers because I was in an apartment complex, etc
I actually body worked and primered my car in my apartment complex, a slide hammer and an electric DA did the trick.
