I am not siding with them, what sort of rust/damage was there? Did you miss it at inspection or at least pull a carfax? Honestly, curious. They should not have told you one thing and the car been in the opposite condition, pretty shitty, but if you missed it on inspection, could they have as well?
The fair thing to do would be to have them refund less what you parted out, but that's just from your side of the post.
