My town is literally on the Canadian Border so I know your pain on rust. I only stitched my car to tighten up the car. I traveled down south to pick up a car and it had the same rust there and around the battery tray. Just sand off all the rust/paint it/ and if you live up north like me I would go get under coat in a rattle can if you don't know a shop that does it.
