The lucas additives are the best out there IMO...as far as thickening the oil, yes it does that, but as the oil heats up the flow becomes normal. It dowen't turn your oil in mollases if that's what you mean. Basically it helps keep the oil up inside the engine in between operations. As far as the lifters, I wouldn't worry about it, if they're already trash this stuff isn't going to hurt them or help them. It will help plug some leaks if you got any. Maybe not all the way but mostly.
I use it in my 96' KA24DE with 185k miles and no leaks, still pulls hard, runs quiet and smooth. I've been using it since around 80k, excellent stuff.
