I got a rb25 spec 2 recently with a spun bearing and some slight crank damage
70k miles and 2nd drift day rod knock,it was too cheap to turn down £40/30$
First thing I noticed was the sump is just as badly designed as my CA18
As in there is nothing to stop the oil surging rearwards and away from the pick up
IMO a simple hinged trap door will do lots more for oil control than the common oil cooler and overfill a liter of oil method some use,
and still get rod knock on a drift or track day tbh
Agreed they can make loads of power/take a beating but also loads with spun bearings
going cheap over here, and imo its the crappy sump design
I like the engine and not saying none make big power on the stock sump as many do
,just the sump needs some work if its going to get worked hard on a track/drift/drag and be reliable for some time,
