But I could just tape up the kit in some foam and write save for mechanic" " at ATL airport and stow it in the bulk cargo (as if it were my tools). The only other problem would be how would I clear customs with it under my arm

Why can they not air freight body kits anyway, they aren't hazardous or heavy, just delicate...if packaged properly they should make the trip.
