There is an "autocross school" but unfortunately this year it's not until late in the season (august). You don't need to attend this before you can run.  For you an anyone else that would be first timers i would recommend the following:
You're first time there ask one of the more successful drivers if you can ride with them during a practice session.  I'd be more than happy to give you a ride, but there are far better drivers than me.  I can give you the names of the some of the better and nicer drivers out there.
Tell the head steward it's you're first time and ask him if you can get an instructor to ride with you during you're practice sessions.  This is the fastest way to improve.  I'll ride with you if there isn't anyone available; but you have to promise not to kill me.
Typically there are 3 practice sessions in the morning so if you repeat this process during each you'll have a decent idea of what you're doing
