Ahhhhhh, isn't the timing cover/oil pump one piece?? As in, I do not think you can install the oil pump without first mounting it into the timing cover, then mounting that to the front of the block.

Now if you have them apart then..........yeah, not sure why you would do that unless you want to clean it. At that point, a BNIB oil pump (with how cheap they are) is a much more appropriate solution. However, a BNIB would necessitate the oil pump and the block being decked together to make sure they are both true/flat.
