To help with your question, I ran 17x9 +20 and 235/40R17 all around on a stock body S13 without any fender modifications. This was with about -3* camber all around. Also had about 5-10mm clearance to both my Stance and HKS coilovers.
So any other wheel and tire combo inside of these specs will suit what you are trying to do. I don't think I could have gone larger in any dimension.

Then I may go with 225/40/R18 or 225/45/R17. I'm not sure which I prefer, and they should generally fit the same, right?
I'm quite new, is -3 degrees of camber a lot?
