Mentally Unstable and Chronicly Homeless
(topic change, sepporate post)
This country has a problem. We shut down the assylums and dumped these people into the streets. It's very hard to get treatment to disturbed adults. Once your 17, all you have to say is "Nope" and you can reject treatment.
West Coast homeless problem is not because rent is to high, minimum wage too low and racsims. It's chronic drug use and mental disabilities.
Personally, I think establishing rustic camping sites that offer free food, housing and BASIC medical care is the answer. This would be log cabins with only lighting and wood stoves, whole food like potatoes and stew and medical care like broken limb setting, asprine and antibiotics.
Residents would be expected to fell trees for fire wood, manage the grounds and latrines, wash and mend clothing, cook food etc. In turn, it's better than living on the street and they can just hang out in their hammocks getting high all day long once thier choirs are done.
Is it grim? Yup
Is it awful? Maybe
Is it more humane to the homeless and society instead of letting them rot on street corners, under bridges and in parks? You bet.
