This was right after the don't be afraid to be boring. Rational people are sick of this shit-show. Pandering to your minority base only gets you so far.
I will agree that this is far from decided on either front. Donnie is divisive enough to draw moderate GOP voters away from him, I'd be more concerned about losing the center right. The left understand the consequences of division as witnessed by four years of precedent. it's possible it happens again but not probable.
