s15dude, diff is only in design......they both do the same thing.....dampen the suspension, absorb the bumps. u can have ft shock-rr shock, ft strut-rr strut, ft strut-rr shock, don't recall ever seeing a ft shock-rr strut combo. to my knowledge struts r always coilover design with spring surrounding it, shocks can be coilover design (like the rr of 240) OR have spring (coil or leaf) located nearby.
