seeing as how i have worked for the second largest mazda dealer in the country for the past two years i'll step in......
-the RX-8 base price will be under 30k (just like the Z)
-the RX-8 has received an overwhelming positive response, our dealership started taking deposits for them last summer, i think we have about 4 of them already sold.
-despite it's lack of a B-pillar, the structure is stiffer than that of the 3rd gen 7 (as stated in recent R&T)
-there aren't plans for a turbo version of the 8 because a new 7 is in the works
-the rx-8 represents the styling the rest of the mazda family will have in the future, just look at the new 6
-mazda is by no means the bottom rung of import cars anymore, the new 6 is a great car (on paper at least), while i personally don't like the styling, you have to respect the 8 for it's individuality and it's performance, the protoge/P5/MP3 is a fun car to drive despite it's lack of power, and the miata tends to be one of the only true drivers cars left on the market
