one thing people here forgot to mention is you have to get high temp paint. the heat from the brakes will surely warp the paint job if not. Pep boys has them for $10/can. .75 can per wheel. you do the math.
you should do at least 2 coats, but no  more than 3... unless you apply very very thinly. use your own discretion. If you remember seeing my car at Griffith Park, the black TE37's, I have 2 coats on mine. be sure to sandpaper, or better yet, sandblast all the crap off the wheels before painting.
