Did you actually read the instructions? You don't have to cal it everytime you start the car. It's easily daily driveable.
EDIT: You're post just really confuses me. You don't even cal it while the car is running. You cal it in open air so it get's a known oxygen content for reference. It doesn't "restart" if the car dies either. Are you sure you actually had a LM-1?
