by buying a 240sx you are pretty much guaranteed to have 'problems down the road', whether you modify it or not.

my advice is to buy a FSM, invest in tools, and start with maintenance on the car.
*ding *ding *ding, we have a winner.

I say, to make it easier on yourself, do the 100 mile test.

Then do the 500 mile test. Then do the 1,000 mile test.

After that, do the 3,000 mile test.

That means, drive it for 3000 miles, and see what comes up before kicking yourself in the head for putting something like springs/shocks on your car if you have a timing chain rattle when your timing chain guides have already been removed, or a similar problem.
(I myself have MORE repairs on my 240SX than aftermarket mods, but I have a devilish bad luck S13 which isn't like any other S13 you've seen, so you might not have it as bad)
