I'm not sure on the procedure on this one, need to talk to my dad on it, but as long as it's mounted to the top of the block it should read properly. He has a shortcut that relocates the knock sensor from under the intake plenum to one of the mounting brackets that cuts about 5 hours from the time to do it on a Quest minivan. This should work for you as well.
