i used to work in downtown LA as well, i enjoyed it, its no worse than any other urban U.S city. skid row does suck at night though, but a city this huge is gonna be like that.
as for the pics, some cool shots in there, but what, no IN and OUT BURGER pics??? cmon dude, you needed to rock a 4x4 animal style or something!
