I find SR's to be fairly reliable. You can squeeze 12-15psi out of the stock turbo, (mines at 13psi, no problems) but I wouldn't push it past that. It would definitely be a good idea to replace the HG, as well as the valve cover gasket and the turbo gaskets. I don't think you would need to much internal work, SR's are built pretty tough. Replacing the valvetrain would probably be a good idea. I don't think you would need to build up or resleeve the block. For any boost past the stock you need a FMIC for sure, doesn't have to be fancy though. And better injectors would be a good idea.

Swap the engine in pretty much stock at first (except for maybe exhaust, downpipe, and a FMIC) to make sure you get it all running well. It can be a pain trying to find problems, when you already have upgrades that could be causing problems or needing adjustment, in addition to a new engine. And swap the engine in yourself, even if you have some issues or need help along the way, the knowledge you gain about your car and engine is invaluable. Good luck.
