We gun ours at Discount Tire all day long. Literally. haha. They are just shitty metal and split just like that once in a while.
On a side note, If you actually want lug nuts that will help as a theft deterrent get ANY other lug nuts or locks. We have the keys to those "spline tuner" lug nuts on all of our tool caddy's along with all the regular size sockets. At least half of all aftermarket wheels we sell and work on have those lug nuts. Just fyi.
