Again you seem to have missed the point. How in the hell are you going to test compression with the engine running? It doesnt work like that.
As to the original poster, I would at least lift the valve cover and make sure that the CAS is installed correctly. It isnt entirely unheard of to recieve an engine with another CAS that was just shoved in and is totally out of time. Shouldn't take too long and you can then rule that out as problem if its correct.
