I still say if you put a well mounted rollcage in the car (something good to have anyway) it will help, but you do need to do some other strengthening. It's not like it's impossible, you just need to really think about what you're doing before you do it.
i'm pretty sure that if a 3S car can be strengthened enough for a targa top, it's possible with a 240sx. Just don't rush into it. Get all the info you really need first.
