Okay, this is what I would do if I were you.

1. Make sure the ground on the fan is good. Check it. You can use a bolt on the radiator support and make sure it's getting a good solid ground.

2. Check your fan. Just take the power wire and touch it on the positive battery terminal. The fan should come on. This is to check that your fuse is still good. If it doesn't come on then you have problems with the fuse or the fan itself.

3. Put your relay back exactly as you found it. If you hacked up any wire, pigtail them back together like the way you found them before.

4. Hook the fan wire to the white/red wire. Start the car and let it idle. As the engine warms up, the fan will kick on and off. If it doesn't do this you need to check your relay.

5. If you can do #4 successfully, then start with step 2 in the link you posted and follow the instructions there.

The relay has 4 wires coming out from under it. My step 4 has you hooking the fan up to the white/red wire. His instructions then has you pulling the relay and popping the wiring underneath out. You snip the blue green wire and hook it directly to chassis ground. Then you put the wiring back and put the relay back in.
