If you have a chance to disassemble a broken ignition switch, look inside at the contacts. When you turn the key from ON to ST, the ignition switch literally moves the contact away from the terminal, cuting power to the accessories to reduce battery drain.
I posted the S13 diagram just for reference. If you have an S14 then you have the stupid anti-theft to deal with.
Go to zeroyon.com and download the FSM for your year. I don't recommend you start messing with it until you finish the swap and the car is running.
There is a bunch of stuff you can eliminate for simplicity, like the clutch interlock switch.
