How well do hydraulic lifters from parts stores (or rock auto) hold up?

Bleeding lifters got rid of startup rattle, but the noise is back so I'm assuming I have at least two bad lifters. Two had a lot of air. New ones from Nissan are like $140/ea. Or should I try my luck with used ones? For a S15 SR.
