That was my initially thinking. Hence the question out of curiosity.
However, when you actually look at it. A lot of plastic is exposed & the subframe assembly cover/hides a lot of it. Big function seems to be the clips on it to hold/route the e-brake cables. Which is why I was curious if anyone had eliminated it at all...
