timing question....
alright i know im probably going to get banned for this, but i CANNOT find the answer to this with all the searching ive done.
i dont have the means to get access to my crankshaft sprocket to see the mating mark to the gold link on the timing chain. with that being said i am trying to figure out what position my cams should be at without using the silver links as a reference. im pretty sure that the gold link slipped past a few teeth when i was replacing my headgasket or this wouldnt be an issue. if i put #1 piston at tdc what position do my cam need to be in for correct timing?? any help is greatly appreciated.

....
well the only reason i suspect this is because i accidently dropped the chain while replacing the hg, and when i tried to set the timing back the normal way ( put the piston at tdc and line the silver links up on the dots on the cam gears) it didnt work.

your intake cam should be at 10:00 and your exhaust cam should be at 1:00...after they are set as close to those positions as possible count the rollers(silver dots) in between the markings on you cams...there should be 20...and remember the lobes on the cams should be facing outwards...

You can also use the Crank pulley's marking to detinguish tdc, then count 21 links(pins) between the two dots (as in the pins on the links).
