How much play should the clutch have when accelerating? I drove my friend's mustang and my cousin's MR2 and there isn't a lot of play. In my car I have to let go of the clutch almost completely before I start accelerating. Is my clutch bad or is this normal on the 240sx?

tech section?
there should be a 1/2 inch of play in your pedal that is freeplay before you can engage your clutch/disengage clutch. check and make sure you have enough fluid in your master cylinder first. how many miles on your car? do you drive hard? burnout? to test your clutch you can get up to 25-30 mph throw it into 4th it should grab and accelrate if you see your rpm's rising more than your speed. you have a slipping clutch. there is also a archive/faq on here with some more info on clutch issues
