![]() I'm in the process of changing my radiator and thermostat on my 1995 240sx sr20det, and i am still getting familiar with the car and i'd like to know, what is that part right in front of the stock radiator that's a very similar size to it but has only small metal tubes coming out, and no cap? And i'm not talking about the intercooler. At first glance this thing looked like another radiator. Is it a stock piece? Is it important that i leave it in front, and the radiator in back? Thanks.

...but does this only serve a purpose if/when i'm running the a/c? Because it's blocking air from my radiator. If i disconnect those lines is some sort of fluid going to come pouring out?

Haha ok, yes i understand the ac won't work without it. I was just a little concerned about the amount of stuff in front of my radiator, especially since my car has been running VERY hot, but hopefully changing to the Koyo rad. and Nismo thermostat will be sufficient. If not i'll reconsider what to do. Anyway, i'm glad to at least know what that is!

All cars have the A/C condensor mounted in front of the radiator, ever since A/C was first used in the '50s. |

um running hot isnt from the ac condensor its from another problem. considering stock 240's run fine with it there. and it was enginered to get cooled enough even with it there

Is your coolant dirty? Does your thermostat work? or maybe your engine coolant temperature sensor is bad.
Test the thermostat. When the car is cold, turn it on and after a minute or so the upper radiator hose should get hot. If it doesn't, it might be your thermostat.

my car never overheated with stock clutch and electric fan, a/c condensor, stock radiator, and a fat front mount (ka-t) this is while hot lapping at drift events in the texas sun, hottest it ever got was 205
