strange grinding noise

so finally i got rid of the stalling problem on my sr and the grinding noise came back. i would rev the engin to about 3000 when i let go of the gas i would hear a grinding noise. samething when i rev to 7000 rpms once i go past 3000 rpm i would hear a grinding sound. sounds like its coming from the bottom of the car, near the trans. any idea what it could be????

Piston chatter or from the actual transmission? It could be the clutch engagement or synchros. Does it grind when you put it into gear? How about when you depress the clutch?

it was making the same sound when it was in gear. i believe its more of a trans thing than pistons.

yeah i also believe it's the transmission, same thing happened to my car, i forgot to get it checked up, and one day i hear something snap while driving on the freeway couldn't drive in gear, days later i ordered a new clutch kit, and my mechanic told me to get a transmission just to be safe, ordered it, opened the old one, and the synchros or the gears [ i forgot ] was all messed up, so thank god i ordered a newer one. btw, on the old one my clutch release sleeve was also fudged up. pic:
