cold start and running rich issues
we i just bought me a bad ass s13 hb yesterday and on the way home from driving it.(it was a 1hour drive).i notice that it sarted blowing a lot of black smoke and i thought oh shit its running real rich fuck.so than when i got her home i shut it down for the night.and this morning i tryed sarting her up and i hat to try 3 times and prime if before it would start and than its still running real rich, the guy i bought it from said that he thought the MAF was messed up so he replaced it with a junkyard one.and said that the coolent temperature sensor might be back and i think that also might be true cuz when i let it run today for 15mins when i was trying to figure out what the problem was and my temperature gauge(stock one) didnt move at all it was buried under the C.also there are 4 connectors near the back of my head that arnt connected.ill get crappy fone pics of these later on today.
can u guys help me out. im puzzled at this moment.also where do u guys get ur FSM cuz i wana try just tracing where those connectors are soposed to go

First step, get out your FSM or download it. Have you checked for DTCs yet? It sounds like a coolant temp sensor(CTS) problem. If it was MAF related, you would probably have a 2500 rpm rev limit. The gauge has nothing to do with the sensor that sends the signal to the ecu, it has its own sensor. Locate the coolant temp sensor for the ecu (its a 2 pin connector, the gauge sender has only 1) and follow the diagnostic resistance checks outlined in the FSM.

is the CEL on? I had a similar problem a couple weeks ago with my max. A wire frayed connecting to the maf, giving me the 2000-2500 rpm limit. if the 240 ecu functions the same way you can disconnect the maf and run off a base map on the ecu. If that is what happened, what ever mods have been made to the car can make it run rich or lean. You mentioned it was " a bad ass 240" i assume it has mods. check the MAF connections and reset the ecu. its a free and easy check.
