Where should I mount my 2 amps?

Curious about where you guys mounted you amp(s).

Put in my system this past weekend.  Wiring and everything is done.  Need just mount the 2 amps down now. I was looking at the hump behind the back seat in the S14.  Can I drill through it and be safe?  There was a grey piece on the left hand side of the hump.  Is it safe.  If not where else can I mount?

If i remember correctly, the hump that you're talking about is the full tank.... So technically speaking, it would be unsafe to drill through that. you can try making a rack under the speaker panel which would be very clean.

Thats what I figured. I think I remeber reaading that before. &nbsp;
An amp rack aye?? &nbsp;That would look clean but would be a pain to make.

1. screw them to the &nbsp;sub box
2. screw them to the back of the back seat
3. make a amp rack
4 take it to a pro.

Though about the back seat. &nbsp;Wont be able to close the seat back with the amps mounted to them. &nbsp;The hole for behind the seat is too small. &nbsp;

Re - Option #3

If you're going to screw the box into the backseat, remember that the backseat has a nice sheet of metal on it -- you need to put a thin piece of wood between the amp and the sheetmetal in order to prevent a ground loop.

Yeah, anyway, I used to have my amp screwed onto the back of my box, but let me tell you, 'twas a pain in the ass everytime I needed to get the box out... much, much, easier (and less bullshit) to simply screw the amp onto the backseat. Then, to get the box out, all you have to do is unplug the wires from the back of the box and yank it out.

Jeff and I mounted our amps on the inside of the passenger rear fender. &nbsp;If you pull back the carpet stuff, there are screws poking up, and a metal strip along the side. &nbsp;(sorry, i'll post pics of this...hard to describe) &nbsp;If you cut a piece of board (plywood, particle board...anything flat) &nbsp;you can mount it in there, put the carpet back up, and then mount the amp right up to it. &nbsp;It looks very clean (you can run all your wires behind the carpet) and is out of the way.

I'll get pics up as soon as downpour goes away (damned florida)

Ya pics would definitely help! &nbsp;Haha. &nbsp;But ya, ran the wires under the carpet already into the trunk. &nbsp;I am not quite sure about what part of the fender your talkn about though. I would really appreciate the pics. Thanks.

Another option is to take out your spare and make an enclosure/rack thing for it. with a clear plexiglass window (make sure to vent it).

Amp Mounting

You could mount another on the other side of the trunk as well (just relocate your bumper jack to the spare tire well.)

How about screwing the amps on a plywood that is secured on top of the fuel tank in a way you don't drill a hole in fuel tank but on the side where the strut towers are.....
