I read this off another board that Hotshot headers will replace the cat on the 240. Is this true? If so would it still be possible to put a catalytic converter on somewhere without welding it to a cat-back system with the Hotshot headers?

not too sure on S14s though.</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'> It replaces one cat on the S14.. the pre-heat cat.

I just did the install about 2 weeks ago.
The hotshot headers will replace the stock cat, you then put a new cat at the end of the headers and then a cat-back. The hotshot headers are not 7 feet long, they are maybe 3-4 feet long.

It definately depends which year you're talking about...the s13's, definately does NOT replace the cat. the s14, all I've ever heard is the precat being taken away...which everyone has always said it doesn't really do anything anyways. If the precat is really important to you, then have a muffler shop cut off the headers, and weld on the precat.

if it is an S14, the cat-looking thing in the exhaust is another resonator, the cat is located just behind the stock manifold, and is impropperly called a pre-cat by many here (including me, at one point)
i just did the install, the cat is most definitely just after the manifold right about at teh firewall just use an aftermarket high flow cat after the hotshot
