a/c compressor relay

Anyone know how many amps the compressor needs? I think I just nuked the relay that was controlling it (haven't tested yet, it's an assumption based on the relay being hot as hell when I noticed the a/c was no longer working) I didn't wire it up ether, so I'm not even sure it was done correctly, but it did work for about a month now... The a/c light still lights up, just the compressor doesn't come on. Also, the idle speed has never kicked up with the SR, but I figured it was a limitation of the stock ecu, never questioned it, figured once I get the power fc that problem would go away. Should I just check/replace the relay (like easy $5 fix), or goto a better SR swap shop and get it checked out ($$$)? I'm in socal if ya have suggestions on where to go.
